When you think of hole-in-the-wall restaurants, White Bear should be at the top of your list. White Bear manages to squeeze 4-5 small tables into a very tight space. Nonetheless, the rumors you've heard are true - the famous wontons in chili oil are fantastic and worth eating as the next lucky person to sit down hovers over you and breaths down your neck. Fu Ran, which recently changed its name from Fu Run, is the current king of Dongbei (a northeast province in China) restaurants in Flushing, according to our own Robert Sietsema. In addition to must-try dishes like country style green bean sheet jelly and pork with sour cabbage and rice noodle, the real star at Fu Ran is the muslim lamb chops. Sure, they might be the most expensive item on the menu, at $25.95, but they are well worth it (pictured below).

Biang! is the more mature sibling of the popular Xi'an Famous Foods, offering waiter service to its patrons. In addition to waiter service, Biang! offers many of the same favorites you've grown to love at Xi'an Famous Foods, but with a number of additional items on the menu. Spicy & Tasty may be the most appropriately named restaurant in all of Chinatown. Known for serving traditional Sichuan fare, Spicy & Tasty takes no mercy on its customers. Regardless of what you order at Spicy & Tasty, make sure it's got those glorious mouth-numbing Sichuan peppercorns. There's a lot going on at this Chinese bakery, but you're likely only here for one reason: Portuguese egg tarts. Think of a crème brûlèe-like custard, caramelized, inside pie crust. They have an additional outpost in the New World Mall if you find yourself in there.[Photo Credit]

Located in the basement of the Golden Shopping Mall, you'll find the original Xi'an Famous Foods, opened back in 2005. The menu and seating may be limited, compared to some of Xi'an's newer locations, but many claim the flavors at the original Xi'an are more pronounced. [Photo Credit]

Sifu Chio is a top choice among diners looking for quality Cantonese cuisine. Sure, Sifo Chio has great noodles and dumplings, but let's be honest, you're at Sifu Chio for the wontons. Whether served in soup, over noodles, or combined with both, you can't go wrong. [Photo Credit]

Tianjin Dumpling house is another Flushing must-try located in the confined basement of Golden Shopping Mall. Ms. You, the owner and operator of Tianjin Dumpling House, also runs another popular Chinatown spot for dumplings - Dumpling Galaxy. The two couldn't appear any different, but the dumplings Ms. You continues to serve are as good as ever. Notable favorites include lamb with squash, pork & chive, and duck with mushroom. Sliced Noodles, or booth #12 in New World Mall, is one of the many Chinatown stalls serving hand-pulled noodles. You won't be disappointed with an order of beef noodle soup, but make sure you pair it with Sliced Noodle's guo tie, or pork potstickers. [Photo Credit]

If you're heading into Flushing for an authentic dim sum meal, Asian Jewels Seafood Restaurant should be at the very top of your list. The wait can get a little long on the weekends, but once you sit down, you'll see the servers at Asian Jewels zipping around the restaurant and your table full in a matter of minutes. [Photo Credit]

Happy Food, a relative newcomer to the scene, offers a diverse selection of Chinese charcuterie, hot dishes over rice, dim sum, and cold salads. The options can be overwhelming, but fortunately, Happy Food received the Sietsema treatment, so we'll let him do the talking.

Located further down Main Street, on the very outskirts of Flushing, you'll find Main Street Imperial Taiwanese Gourmet. The "snacks" menu at Main Street Imperial, previously only available on Saturday afternoons, has now been made available all day, and all week, long. Here's another Flushing spot known for, and named after, soup dumplings. Located in southern Flushing Kung Fu Xiao Long Bao offers more than just soup dumplings.
