But every once in awhile, due to some uncontrollable circumstance, even the most careful of New York diners will find themselves smack dab in the middle of one. Maybe a friend is staying at The Thompson LES and they want to try Shang, maybe a client scheduled dinner at Kenmare, perhaps there's a work happy hour at CrossBar, or a relative who couldn't resist the Groupon deal at At Vermilion.
