Given the rate at which Michael Bao Huynh is opening and announcing restaurants, it's become harder and harder for the food scene followers—both the writers and the eaters—to keep it all straight. He's basically taking over all of St. Mark's Place and has plans to plant his flag in the Upper East Side, Williamsburg, Oakland, and Atlanta in the next year. To make it easier for everyone, meet the BaoMap, a constantly updated tracker of his movements. The map is below, but here's a quick refresher:
Opened in '09: Baoguette Lexington, Pho Sure, Baoguette Cafe, Bia Garden, OBao, Mikey's, Baoguette FiDi.
Opening in '10: Baoguette & Noodles, Williamsburg Beer Garden, B Clinton, upscale spot on the Upper East Side, two spaces on St. Mark's Place.
Curious Case: BarBao. There have been reports that Huynh is no longer involved and his old partners are putting the space up for lease. Now Eater hears Huynh is buying it back within the week. We'll be keeping a close watch on this one.
Future places from Bao, not on the map: Atlanta, Oakland
Places that are not actually from Michael Bao: Bun, Bao Noodles, Spot, BaoHaus
