The Manhattan Heatmap: Where to Eat Right Now

View as Map

134111232008_10_hasmaps%20%283%29%20%281%29.jpgMore often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater have one question: Where should I eat right now? Restaurant obsessives want to know what's new, what's hot, which favorite chef just launched a sophomore effort, what Michael White is up to these days. And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the "it" places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heatmap, which will change continually to always highlight where the foodie crowds are flocking to at the moment.
Check out the map of Manhattan's 15 hottest restaurants below, and stay tuned for the Brooklyn and Queens maps later this week.

For his first new Manhattan restaurant in over eight years, Mr. Bobby Flay is serving a menu of rustic Mediterranean fare in a gorgeous, sprawling space. Flay’s menu includes tapas-style shareable plates (three for $17), Greek-style dips, wood-fired pizzas, grilled seafood dishes, and vegetables galore. Important Note: The restaurant is currently in soft opening mode, so it does not have a set schedule and it sounds like guests are only being seated in the bar area. It’s best to call ahead if you plan on stopping by. A grand opening is slated for March 10.

General Assembly is the new European-influenced bistro from Michael and Alan Stillman's Fourth Wall Group. Chef Craig Koketsu's menu has crudités (so hot right now), raw seafood dishes, fried skate, roasted chicken, a fancy $19 burger, rabbit Wellington, and steak frites. The design titans at AvroKo created a space that's bright and airy.
