With the debut of Top Chef Season 7 less than two weeks away, it’s a perfect time to catch up with contestants from seasons past who have tried to make it in New York. Although a few TC alums have had a lot of success, many have spent the past few years working a variety of short term gigs, either as guest Executive Chefs or as culinary consultants. We’ve included the most recent info we could find as to their whereabouts, and placed them on a map of the city according to their current or last job. Some chefs are still working, or were recently working, outside of any particular restaurant —we’ve included their “off the map” info too.
"Off the Map" Top Chef Alums: Josie Smith-Malave (Season 2): Josie, originally of Marlow and Sons, spent some time as the Executive Chef at Norwood, but is now basically MIA from the food world. She's still very active on twitter and appears to be a member of a local women's tackle football team.
Camille Becerra(Season 3): Camille's Greenpoint restaurant Paloma shuttered after a fire on election night, 2008. Last month she hosted a $100 secret supper club pop-up dinner with cocktail man Alan Philips.
Ashley Merriman (Season 6): In an exit interview following the show, Ashley mentioned plans for a restaurant project with Alex Guarnaschelli. Ashley confirmed with us that she is working in an NYC restaurant right now.
Lisa Fernandes (Season 4): After a stint at Mai House following the show, Lisa is MIA.
