There are plenty of new restaurants in the Hamptons this year. You could easily spend a few weekends out East to check off your bucket list but finding a place to stay is no easy task. Whether you’re staying at a hotel or not, these establishments offer more than just welcoming rooms. The inviting restaurants at these properties are worth a visit, from waterfront spots to cozy inns.

Claude's Restaurant at the Southampton Inn

Picnic service is available on the expansive lawn at this surprisingly reasonable resort just steps from the center of Southampton. Open all day until 6 p.m., Claude’s is best known for brioche French toast, smoked salmon scramble, and other brunch items, but it also serves an array of generous salads, fish tacos, burgers, and veggie chili.

Situated on the first floor of the chic nine-room Harpoon House, the Mediterranean spot has a spacious outdoor veranda that’s ideal for people watching. Vegetables are not to be missed, whether it’s the Brussels sprouts with figs, grapes, walnuts, mint,and yogurt or the veggie and grain salad with shrimp, tuna, or chicken paillard.

NAIA Restaurant and Lounge Hamptons

Dine around the pool or on the picturesque outdoor veranda of this Greek-accented spot in the Capri hotel that has played host to many events and power tables. Dining choices range from a burger or lobster Cobb salad to a dry-aged ribeye, pan-seared seabass, or fresh catch of the day. Music, weekly art exhibits, and a lively crowd makes for an entertaining scene, and owner Michael Pitsinos has decided to cater to dog-owning customers by installing a little dog park and introducing a separate menu for the pets.

Located on the bay in the hopping town of Sag Harbor, the popular hotel has a heated pool, tennis courts, and a restaurant known for artful presentations of fresh local fare.  Among chef Nick Vogel’s offerings are grilled swordfish with cannelloni beans, chili, and kale; cauliflower steak with crispy fingerlings and salsa verde; and lobster pappardelle with wild mushrooms and rosemary breadcrumbs. It’s also wonderful spot for breakfast or brunch.

Tom Collicchio opened a restaurant at this luxurious inn built on the grounds of an historic mansion in the town of Bridgehampton, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten took it over from him in 2016. It has an acre of farmland where the chef grows vegetables and herbs used in his dishes. On Vongerichten’s current menu: Thai spiced broccoli soup with coconut and lime; warm white asparagus with jalapeno-coriander vinaigrette; roasted organic chicken with ramp spaetzle; fava beans and grainy mustard sauce; and beef tenderloin with spring vegetables.

1770 House Restaurant & Inn

A three course seasonal new American tasting from chef Michael Rozzi is served at this historic house, where guests can choose from a traditional dining room or the cozy downstairs Tavern. The first course has dishes designed to highlight produce from local farm stands such as spring pea soup with summer truffles, Mecox Bay Dairy sigit cheese, and Berkshire bacon. Other courses include spicy fluke tartare and entrees like heritage pork rib shop with spring onion, local kale sprouts and rhubarb.

The Palm - East Hampton

Although most of the Palm locations in the city have sadly closed, the classic American steakhouse, which was purchased by Landry’s in 2020, is still alive and well in East Hampton’s Huntting Inn. The restaurant, which has been in operation since 1980, has a porch filled with VIPs. There is a buzzing bar scene downstairs, and the 19 rooms upstairs in the house, first built around 1700, are in the process of being updated.

Sí Sí Mediterranean Restaurant

Located on Three Mile Harbor, which is famous for its panoramic sunsets, the coastal Mediterranean restaurant is part of the property’s massive transformation from East Hampton Point to the newly opened EHP Resort and Marina. Helmed by former Gurney’s chef Dane Sayles, the menu includes such dishes as vegetable paella, roasted striped bass with chick peas, fennel, cippolini onions; and halibut with tabouleh, asparagus and charred lemon.

Not many places actually have a breathtaking view of the ocean, but the outpost of this popular Italian spot within the legendary Gurney’s resort takes full advantage of its perch, with floor to ceiling glass windows and an outdoor terrace. Start with crudo like diver scallop with pea puree, preserved truffle, and lemon; or the signature spaghetti with tomato and basil before moving on to striped bass caught hours earlier.

There is a raw bar, and a daily selection of fresh fish caught in Montauk that is simply grilled; the side selection includes polenta with Parmesan and truffle oil, local squash, and grilled asparagus. Cavatelli is prepared with lobster, jumbo shrimp, tarragon, and tomato ragu, but there’s a flat iron steak for carnivores.
