While enjoying 360-degree views of Manhattan, visitors at this Meatpacking District hotel can order from a poolside menu with summery dishes like a caprese grilled cheese or the roasted chicken salad with mixed greens, heirloom tomato, baby corn, and hearts of palm. Located on the Modernhaus Soho Hotel’s 18th floor, this rooftop bar and pool deck serves seasonal cocktails by mixologist Johnny Swet. Salt cod croquettes, piri piri chicken, and other global bar fare comes from Michelin-starred chef George Mendes. The venue is open daily throughout the year. The Dream’s downtown location is doing its best to turn a second floor pool into a beach club — it even brought in sand. Day passes are $80 per chaise lounge on weekdays. On weekends, poolside loungers can reserve a seat for $100 or a cabana for $100 for two daily seatings. A selling point for some, the pool is often filled with whimsical floats. The menu here includes avocado toast, a fried chicken sandwich, and poke.

The guest-only pool at this Lower East Side hotel is artsy with Andy Warhol’s visage looking up from the bottom and is surrounded by plush seating, cocktail tables, and an outdoor shower. The hotel’s Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya prepares small plates for poolside dining and drinking.

Mr. Purple, the Hotel Indigo’s popular nightlife spot, boasts a heated pool with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop. For refreshing drinks, consider a vodka-based cocktail with ginger, jalapeño, and lemon juice or spritz with vodka, prosecco, lime juice, and club soda. The food menu includes dishes to snack on, including guacamole, cheese-and-charcuterie boards, and the Mr. Purple Burger. Pool access is limited only to hotel guests during weekdays and is offered by reservation only during weekends with a required spending minimum.

For the uninitiated, McCarren’s outdoor pool comes with a bit of a scene. On weekends it’s a place to be seen, and usually fills up by the afternoon. Since demand here is very high, there’s a ticket system via the hotel’s website. A day pass can start at $100 per person and go up toward $200 or so for a larger bed. Food options in the pool area include raw oysters, salmon belly pastrami, and pan con tomate.

At what was formerly the TWA Flight Center, JFK’s only onsite airport hotel has its rooftop pool-cuzzi and observation deck overlooking one of the airport’s runways. Pool reservations are required for TWA Hotel guests and food and drink orders can be put in through the pool’s bar. Cocktails have aviation-themed names, from the Mile-High Margarita to Vodka Is My Co-Pilot, complete with dry vermouth and olives.
