Thanksgiving will decidedly be different this year with many people not traveling home, and many others continuing not to socialize as they did before due to the coronavirus pandemic. With that in mind, eating out during the holiday might be even more of a special occasion than usual for people who are choosing to go out for a celebratory meal. NYC restaurants are not doing the types of blowout celebrations New Yorkers were used to in holidays past, but many are working to enliven celebrations for those looking to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal outside their homes, whether it’s eating inside or at a heated table outdoors. Here is a selection of restaurants across the city for a memorable Thanksgiving meal this year.
A number of NYC restaurants have resumed indoor and outdoor dining, as well as takeout and delivery service. The type of service offered is indicated on each map point. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit the NYC Health Department’s website. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
