Happy hours may seem like a relic of the Before Times, but they are making a slow comeback in New York City as the weather warms and bars can open at higher indoor capacities. These specials aren’t just about lower prices and watered-down cocktails, either: Discounted burgers and bacon cheese fries are also on the menu, in part due to the state requirement that bars must sell food with alcoholic beverages.
The following restaurants and bars offer an array of happy hour deals, including specials that run on weekends and after 7 p.m., well-executed cocktails for under $10, and sushi, deviled eggs, and oysters all priced at a dollar. If there’s a happy hour in your neighborhood that we missed, let us know at tips@eater.com.
NYC restaurants can now offer indoor dining at 50 percent capacity along with outdoor dining, takeout, and delivery. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining out, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit the NYC Health Department’s website. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
