Blue Moon Brewing Co.® has enlisted Eater NY to bring fans a sneak peek into the making of a brew like their upcoming Blue Moon White IPA®. Hitting the shelves in April, it will be brought to NYC in an exclusive preview event at the end of January.

What makes this White IPA white? This new style is actually two-a Belgian White and an American IPA. The Blue Moon® brewers started with wheat, orange peel, and coriander, ingredients that originally inspired Blue Moon Belgian White®. They experimented with hop after hop until they discovered a rare, complementary German hop called Huell Melon. It's unfiltered, pleasantly hoppy, and incredibly balanced. Best of both worlds.

Blue Moon® is now challenging Eater NY readers to embark on a search of their own that will lead you to the very first sips of Blue Moon White IPA® available now only in NYC. On January 29, decode the GPS coordinates below to discover an exclusive launch party where the first four verified participants to each of the following five locations will receive a custom etched growler and a seat at a beer dinner with a brewmaster and even a trip to Denver for a private tour of the Blue Moon Brewing Company® at the Sandlot. Good luck!

Breakfast in schools - already available to all children for free in New York City public schools - is a key step towards fighting hunger. But too few kids get breakfast because it's served before school starts. About 300 NYC schools offer the meal in the classroom, and the Powered by Breakfast NYC campaign wants to grow that number to all schools in the city.

More than 80 notable chefs -including Tom Colicchio, Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnaschelli, Marc Murphy, Robert Irvine, Jonathan Waxman, Anita Lo, Floyd Cardoz, JJ Johnson and Christina Tosi-have signed the petition to urge Mayor de Blasio to make breakfast a part of the school day.
Connecticut is home to some of the country's best breweries and beer bars.

Fans of craft beer (or beer in general) will appreciate the Connecticut Beer Trail, a line-up of world class breweries and top-notch beer bars that stretches from Stanford to Pawcatuck. From hopped-up IPAs, to zesty Weizens, Connecticut’s abundance of craft beer offers something for every taste bud along the trail.

If you’re looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city on a day trip, Two Roads Brewing Company of Stratford CT is an excellent destination to include in your itinerary. Located in an 112-year-old building, this is the state’s largest brewery. They offer tours of the brewery and a tasting room that’s open 6 days a week. Two Roads brews a variety of year-round classic beers including the notable Road 2 Ruin Double IPA while also specializing in tasty seasonal brews. Stop by for a pint, six pack, or growler. Here’s to taking to road less traveled, in life and in beer!

Located further along the Connecticut coastline, Beer’d Brewing Company can be found inside of an old velvet mill along the historic waterfront community of Stonington, CT. Best known for their signature Witbier, the Whisker’d Wit, Beer’d also turns out a hoppy Double IPA and an American Pale Ale. All ales are brewed in extremely small batches, giving drinkers a truly genuine local offering. Beer’d Brewery offers free tastings on Friday – Sunday.

Lastly, bid farewell to the beer trail at The Cask Republic, with locations in both New Haven and Stamford. Stop here before jumping on the Metro North back to the city, or for a break to refuel during your travels through Connecticut. The Cask Republic is home to 53 continuously rotating taps, a rare cask engine, and another 80 bottled beers. To complement the brews, chef Carl Carrion is creating dishes that range from a light beet and endive salad to a hearty signature BBQ-glazed burger with smoked bacon.
