At the end of the year, lauded pastry chef Sandro Michelli left his post at Alain Ducasse's high-end restaurant in the St. Regis hotel, Adour, and now there's more chef turnover in the kitchen. Executive Chef Didier Elena, who has spent over 20 years working for Ducasse around the world, confirms that he is no longer at the restaurant or involved in the restaurant group. Adour reps are keeping mum at the moment on his replacement and Elena is not yet sure where he will land, noting that "right now, I am focused on finding the best fit for me in New York and I'm happy to have some time to spend with my family."
Elena came to Adour in March 2010, replacing chef Joel Dennis who himself replaced Tony Esnault in 2008. The restaurant earned three stars from Frank Bruni shortly after it opened four years ago and but hasn't enjoyed a whole lot of critical attention, save a glowing review from Ryan Sutton and some Fat Guy love, since. Stay tuned for more when the Ducasse reps reveal the identity of Elena's replacement.
