Update, Wednesday, March 18, 10:17 a.m.: Eater is no longer updating this list due to an overwhelming number of new delivery and takeout options and quickly changing details. Check in with your favorite restaurant to see if it’s open. For inspiration, peruse Eater maps.
New York City’s precautionary guidelines surrounding coronavirus are changing fast. On Monday afternoon, the New York City Department of Health issued new guidelines suggesting that New Yorkers should stay home as much as possible, whether they are sick or not. Earlier in the morning, Governor Andrew Cuomo tweeted that restaurants and bars would be limited to take-out and delivery only starting at 8 p.m., a coordinated effort with the governments of New Jersey and Connecticut intended to curb the spread of novel coronavirus. The new restriction follows a similar announcement from Mayor Bill de Blasio on Sunday evening. As part of both of those plans, theaters, concert venues, and nightclubs will have to close completely.
How these policies will be enforced remains to be seen, but New York City’s restaurants and bars have already begun to respond. Below, a neighborhood-by-neighborhood breakdown of the New York City restaurants that have expanded their delivery and take-out options or modified their hours.
If you know of additional service changes in your neighborhood, we invite you to email us at tips@eater.com. If you have a favorite restaurant, be sure to check its website or Instagram to see if it is remaining open for takeout and delivery, and via what services.
