Chelsea Market’s downstairs grocery gets four new additions
Chelsea Market’s downstairs grocery area, the Chelsea Local, is adding two new vendors in September: bagelry Black Seed Appetizing and vegetarian bakery Las Delicias Patisserie. Asian grocer Pearl River Mart Foods and an expanded area for butcher Dickson’s Farmstand Meats will also arrive later this fall.
Black Seed, known for its bagels that blend New York and Montreal techniques, is expanding with a full-on appetizing shop, bringing smoked fish by the pound, prepared salads, various cream cheeses, tinned fish, condiments, pastries, juices, and Stumptown coffee. Las Delicias will serve scones, paninis, crème brulee, rugelach, and gluten-free and kosher options. Pearl River Mart will stock various Asian goods, as well as prepared rice bowls and bao. And Dickson’s, which has been in the market since 2010, is moving downstairs into a larger space for its meats, poultry, charcuterie, hot dogs, rotisserie chicken, and sandwiches.
Already down there is Zach & Zoe Sweet Bee Farm, Manhattan Fruit Market, Buon Italia, Saxelby Cheesemongers, and Heatonist, and it’s open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
