Smorgasburg is growing again. Starting this Friday, July 12, the weekly outdoor summer food festival with multiple locations in NYC will host “Food Truck Fridays” in its Williamsburg lot at Kent Ave. and North Sixth Street.
The lineup will feature four to six trucks plus a bar with beer, wine, and cider, and the event will run from noon to 9 p.m. every Friday this summer. Usually, Williamsburg only hosts Brooklyn Flea on Saturday in this lot, plus Smorgasburg one block north.
This week, the featured food trucks will be Burger Truck (Greek suckling pig, pita, and fries), Carlito’s Barbecue Taqueria (brisket, pork, and chicken tacos), Divine Flavored (Nigerian joloff, honeybeans, and plantains), and Jamrock Jerk (Jamaican jerked meats). For this opening day only, all drinks will be just $4. There are plans to eventually roll out a happy hour on subsequent Fridays.
Starting July 19, two more trucks will join the mix. Groundlings Pizza will serve its pies topped with local meats and cheeses, and Nansense will serve up its Afghan comfort food like chicken platters.
Smorgasburg’s World Trade Center location will continue to run on Fridays throughout the summer as well. The outpost at Prospect Park is also still happening on Sundays.
