New Yorkers can expect more from Danny Meyer this year: His Union Square Hospitality Group is behind a new project headed to the Flatiron District.
USHG has confirmed that a bar is planned for the neighborhood, though details are scarce for now. The prolific NYC restaurateur has a lot going on this year; earlier this month he opened Cedric’s, an all-day bar located in the lobby of the Shed, the high-profile arts center at Hudson Yards. It’s a living room-like space focused on cocktails, beer, and wine, with savory bar snacks.
And later this spring, the restaurant group will bring an outpost of coffee shop and bakery Daily Provisions to the West Village, followed by another on the Upper West Side.
Late last year, USHG also confirmed it would open a restaurant at Manhattan West, the Tenth Avenue development across the street from Hudson Yards — where the newly opened Cedric’s now lives. Details are also slim on that new restaurant, except that it’ll anchor the six-building development and only open in 2020.
As for the new Flatiron bar, no date has been set just yet. It’s a familiar neighborhood for the group, home to the iconic Gramercy Tavern, plus Union Square Cafe and Daily Provisions stand nearby.
Stay tuned for more.
