Bam! Just like that, Emeril Lagasse is out of the New York City dining scene.
The celebrity chef’s consulting group We Love Food Hospitality has terminated its consulting agreement with Rodos, the two-month-old Greek restaurant inside Chelsea’s Hotel Henri, a representative confirms.
Rodos was the first project that Lagasse’s newly launched consulting division within his restaurant group took on. Lagasse consulted on the menu, adding some of his signature Cajun-Creole twists to Greek cuisine. Although he was not an owner — Rodos comes from restaurateurs Yiannis Chatiris and Eleni Vareli — this marked his first official foray into NYC’s dining scene.
“With the termination of our contracting relationship for that project, Emeril no longer has any involvement with Rodos,” the representative of Lagasse told Eater NY in a statement.
That means that Lagasse is no longer involved in any New York projects, as his consulting group isn’t working with anyone else here at the moment. The rep was not able to provide comment on why the contract was terminated, and Eater NY has reached out to Rodos for more information.
