What will likely be Hudson Yards’s biggest tourist attraction has set its opening date: The development’s tallest building — which claims to have the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere — and its accompanying restaurant and Champagne bar will be opening in March 2020.
Peak will be a restaurant, bar, cafe, and events space on the 101st floor of the 30 Hudson Yards tower, which developer Related is calling Edge. The Champagne bar will be on the 100th floor, and visitors will be able to drink either indoors or outdoors. Tickets just came out for for that observation deck, opening on March 11, and the restaurant and bar will be debuting to the public that day, too.
Both food portions of the skyscraper will be operated by Rhubarb, the London-based group that also runs Asian fusion restaurant Wild Ink over at the Shops at Hudson Yards.
There’s no word yet on what kind of menu will be going on at Peak, but considering Wild Ink was poorly reviewed — Eater’s critic Ryan Sutton called it “an overwrought yet underachieving fusion disaster” in a zero-star piece — expectations for Peak’s actual food aren’t that high.
Still, people will likely flock to the restaurant and bar in droves regardless for the big promise of that view. Most of the development’s other restaurants opened earlier this year, largely to mixed reviews.
