Danny Meyer is bringing his popular all-day cafe Daily Provisions to West Village. Opening at 29 Bedford St., near Downing Street, this will be the second location of the Union Square Hospitality Group’s small cafe serving coffee, breads, pastries, and a casual dinner menu of sandwiches and rotisserie chicken with sides.
The restaurant is opening in the former Ditch Plains space, which is significantly larger than the space that houses the original, often packed Daily Provisions. The popular first location opened at 103 East 19th St. in February 2017 and became known in particular for its crullers, a collaboration between Meyer and pastry chef Daniel Alvarez, an Eater Young Gun this year.
It has been a busy time for Meyer and USHG. This summer, the restaurant group launched two very different concepts: Tacocina, a casual taco stand in Williamsburg’s recently redeveloped Domino Park, and Manhatta, a 60th-floor restaurant with sprawling views in the Financial District. Meyer was on the early side of NYC’s all-day cafe trend, and given the trend’s persistence, expanding Daily Provisions tracks.
The restaurant is slated to open by the end of 2018. Eater has reached out for more information. Stay tuned.
