Queer Eye fans can begin flipping out now: The show’s hot food guy Antoni Porowski said last night at a 92nd Street Y talk that he’s planning a fast-casual restaurant concept for New York City.
Porowski lives in NYC, where he lusts after corgis while making spaghetti and meatballs, and it’s here that the much-talked-about reality show star wants to open a restaurant, Food and Wine reports.
“I’m all about like cheese and pork belly and decadence, and as a result of the increased vanity of being on camera all the time and working out and eating healthy, I’m developing a fast-casual food concept restaurant that I’m gonna be opening here in New York,” he said at the panel, according to F&W.
On the show, Porowski’s job is to help straight men not be neanderthals in the kitchen. He keeps it pretty simple, with things like macaroni and cheese and poke, but in his private life he actually has quite a bit of hospitality experience. In addition to working at various points as a busboy, a waiter, a manager, and a sommelier, Porowski also impressed Queer Eye’s original food expert Ted Allen when Porowski catered one of his dinners.
Porowski’s career has really taken off since his stint on the wildly popular Netflix show debuted earlier this year — in addition to this restaurant, he also has a cookbook in the works.
