The Downtown Brooklyn spaces that once housed both Hill Country Fried Chicken and Hill Country Barbecue Market will soon be combined — and replaced with an Austin-inspired food hall called Hill Country Food Park.
Hill Country is billing the 10,000-square-foot space at 345 Adams St., right across the street from Borough Hall, as a “food park,” with stylings from “the original Austin food truck movement of the 1990s.”
Six different stalls will be in the space, all overseen by chef Steven Ferdinand. Expect breakfast tacos, donuts, coffee, Hill Country barbecue, Hill Country fried chicken, pizza, burgers, tacos, and salads. Seating will be available, and a full bar and live music will slide in later as well.
Hill Country is one of NYC’s essential barbecue restaurants, known for its recreation of central Texas-style brisket since it opened about a decade ago. Since then, the restaurant and CEO Marc Glosserman has spun off a fried chicken restaurant that’s also quite well-liked.
The Brooklyn outposts both opened in 2014 and closed at the end of 2017 for these renovations. It’s an office-heavy area with lots of lunch business, and sounds like the flip into a food hall is aimed at the people going into the neighborhood for work. The company anticipates a mid-summer opening. Stay tuned for more.
