Drool over the Full Menu for This Year’s Big Apple Barbecue Block Party

All the brisket, pulled pork, sausages, and ribs one can eat

With the imminent return of summer comes the annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, which springs back to life on June 9 and 10. One of the country’s largest barbecue gatherings, the Madison Square Park event is an ever-popular way to try brisket from 15 pitmasters around the country — and without a ticket. All barbecue plates are $12, sides are $6, and desserts are $4 to $8.

Big names to beeline for include newly-minted James Beard Award winner and South Carolina whole hog legend Rodney Scott of Rodney Scott BBQ, who will show off his pig prowess with St. Louis ribs with coleslaw. New York’s own Erika Nakamura and Jocelyn Guest, the former White Gold butchers are making a hot dog with kimchi and mayo, kielbasa with mustard, and bratwurst with kraut and mustard. And Chris Lilly of Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Que in Decatur, Alabama is always a big hit — he’s been at the event all 15 years and this year will be making his pulled pork sandwich with spicy mustard coleslaw.
