Dear Eater,
I’m looking to plan a girls’ brunch to celebrate the one-year anniversary of a significant break up I had. I want a fun and festive vibe with a great menu (and ideally pancakes because that’s how I see myself celebrating) as well as the ability to make a reservation. Pretty open otherwise though! Eight to 10 people, Sunday brunch, a place that takes a reservation for a large group, with drink options but not bottomless, cozy and/or cool vibe with moderate prices.
Thank you!

Hey OYF,
It sounds like congratulations are in order so ... congrats!! The answer to what sounds like a very fun Sunday for you and your friends is Lil’ Frankies, an Italian restaurant in the East Village. It’s impeccably cozy and cool, with a crowd that skews late twenty-somethings dining with their visiting parents or with friends similarly celebrating a milestone. Frankies is known for its crowd-pleasing and affordable pastas like the spaghetti limone which y’all should definitely not sleep on, and I’d suggest you just order a ton of pastas and pizzas for the tables to share, and four orders of fried calamari should do it for 10 people.

They indeed take reservations though you have to submit a request online first (they are quick to answer). And since I want the best for you, there are also pancakes, done just the way everyone likes them with maple syrup and powdered sugar. I should note that Lil’ Frankies is cash-only, which IMO is better for big group outings anyway. Oh I almost forgot, prosecco drinks are three-for-one during brunch so have an Aperol spritz on me.
Have fun!
Patty
