Looks like the Clintons are on a NYC dining rampage. Just a week after Hillary Clinton received a standing ovation at Upland, Bill Clinton strolled into super hot Flatiron restaurant Simon and the Whale in the Freehand Hotel on Thursday night
The restaurant’s owner Gabriel Stulman, who opened the eclectic hotel restaurant at 23 Lexington Ave. between 23rd and 24th streets in February, apparently got to sit down with the president for a while, according to an Instagram post of the visit. Brooklyn neighborhood dining stalwart Andrew Tarlow also fanboyed out at the spotting, while another diner posted a sneaky shot of Bill at his table. Eater has reached out to the restaurant for more info.
Bill has also dined at Estela, Roberta’s, Estiatorio Milos, and Il Mulino, with Hillary, Barack Obama, and Ted Danson in tow in the past. He famously eats mostly vegan food though, a change after he had heart surgery in 2010.
Simon and the Whale is quite the trendy spot for the former president to choose. The brand-new restaurant is part of Stulman’s most ambitious project to date, as an acclaimed restaurateur otherwise best known for small but charming neighborhood dining in the West Village. It’s also freshly on Eater’s heatmap this month.
