Take a look at the newest H Mart

Asian mega-grocer H Mart has opened its second Manhattan location, and people are predictably excited. The new location at 110th Street and Broadway swung open its doors this weekend, with lines already forming and a five percent discount for the soft open. Pictures in West Side Rag show a large seafood section, ceramics, Asian beauty products, and lots of specialty produce such as jackfruit. Reports of the new store, however, don’t mention a food court section.

Thomas Keller and Daniel Boulud to headline NJ Wine & Food Festival

Another day, another food and wine festival. This time, New Jersey is hosting, and chefs Daniel Boulud (Daniel, Boulud Sud) and Thomas Keller (Per Se, Bouchon) are headlining. The NJ Wine & Food Festival takes place May 4 to May 6 at Crystal Springs Resort, with food from Boulud and Keller, as well as Michael White (Marea), Top Chef’s Bryan Voltaggio, and more. Of the 23 promoted chefs, three are female (Aishling A. Stevens of Crystal Springs Resort, Martyna Krowicka of Restaurant Latour, and Michelle Karr-Ueoka of ment’or). Tickets and more details here.

Jesse Schenker wakes up Oyster Bay’s food scene

Former Recette and Gander chef Jesse Schenker has relocated to Oyster Bay, where he just opened American brasserie 2 Spring. According to the Times, the opening is all the residents of the quiet Long Island bayside town can talk about: Reservations are booked out 30 days in advance, and walking down the street yields overheard conversations about the restaurant.

Food cart vendor acquitted of assaulting rival vendor

Eight months after street food vendor Sameh Amer punched fellow vendor Mohammad Uddin — and landed Uddin in a coma — during a dispute over where to park their carts, Amer has been found not guilty of assault.
