A six-pound bowl of soup...

Gramercy’s new noodle restaurant Mi Noodle Bar is running a “Supersize Mi” challenge in which diners have 90 minutes to finish a bowl containing three pounds of noodles and three pounds of meat. It costs $65 but, of course, is free if you complete the challenge. Winners also get $100 in credit toward the restaurant, their name on a wall, and a free appetizer every visit for life. According to the restaurant’s Instagram, there have already been three winners. Owner-chef Alvin Lin (La Chine, Buddakan, Aquavit) also offers a normal $16 bowl of pho, too.

Free soup

It’s soup season, and the FiDi fast-casual pasta place that loves to get weirdly sexual on Instagram will offer free soup to celebrate. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, the Pastagram will have three options for free soup: pumpkin, potato, fried pasta, and pumpkin seed soup; beef soup with chicken, pork meatballs, veggies, and chiocciole pasta; and lentil, potato, and carrot soup.

Emma’s Torch expands to Brooklyn library

Carroll Gardens newcomer Emma’s Torch — which doubles as a training program for refugees — is growing with a new outpost at the Brooklyn Public Library. The nonprofit restaurant, which serves a seasonally changing menu, will be the concessions at the Central Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza starting February 2019, also serving a seasonally changing menu.

Other coming attractions and a potential closing

Sushi by Bou at Suite 1001 is an upcoming omakase spot that will operate out of a hotel room in Nomad’s Hotel 32 32 by controversial sushi chef David Bouhadana. The former St. Mark’s Ale House space at 2 St. Mark’s Pl. will soon be a new pub. Back in May, the community board approved a liquor license for the new owners, who also run brew up Draught 55. The yet-to-be-named new endeavor will serve American pub food and will have space for 74. Also in East Village, Chinese counter-service joint China Wok has not been open recently. Adding fuel to closure rumors, the storefront has been listed on the rental market for $6,495 a month.
