Looks like the Eleven Madison Park team has another restaurant up its sleeve. Will Guidara and chef Daniel Humm’s spokesperson confirmed that a new, yet-to-be announced restaurant is on the way, headed up by longtime EMP staffer Dmitri Magi.
The team’s being tight-lipped about specifics right now — including whether it will even be in New York City — but regardless of what kind of restaurant it will be, the EMP fine dining cred will come with it. Magi is the chef de cuisine at the three Michelin-starred tasting menu restaurant, and he’s been working there since 2011. He’s from Estonia and has also worked at Noma in Copenhagen and Gramercy Tavern here.
The Make It Nice empire has been growing pretty heavily over the last couple years. Earlier this year, the duo opened an outpost of the NoMad in Los Angeles, followed by a location in Las Vegas. The NoMad Bar also joined the Vegas location, and they have done pop-ups in the Hamptons and in Aspen.
Here in their home base, the team signed on to open an events space on the Lower East Side and are still slated to open a two-story fine dining restaurant on Park Avenue. They also pivoted their fast-casual restaurant Made Nice into a poultry-heavy spot, just one year after opening it. That’s in addition to EMP, the NoMad, and NoMad Bar.
That said, they killed a plan to open a more casual restaurant in FiDi due to scheduling conflicts. Maybe this new project will be a replacement? Stay tuned.
