Pretty Southern, the fried chicken spot from Top Chef alum Sam Talbot, has closed after less than a year in Greenpoint. On October 30, 2017, the restaurant posted on Instagram and Facebook that it would be temporarily closed until November 10 to “make improvements to the restaurant.” But the space never reopened, and no further statement was issued.

The owner of the building, located at 14 Bedford Ave., between Lorimer Street and Manhattan Avenue, confirms that the restaurant closed in the fall and that Talbot is no longer leasing the space. Eater has reached out to Talbot’s representative for a reason for the closure.

The 22-seat Southern comfort food restaurant offered gluten-free variations of fried chicken, biscuits, and mac and cheese as well as dairy-free grits cooked in coconut milk. Talbot emphasized a vegan- and allergy-friendly approach to Southern classics.

The chef appeared on CBS This Morning on November 25 and talked about Pretty Southern, but there was no mention of the closure.
