Top Chef Dale Talde’s mini empire inside Hotel 50 Bowery grew a bit larger today with the opening of Rice & Gold. For now, it’s breakfast only for this Asian restaurant that spans countries across the continent, combining food cultures for dishes like pho soup dumplings and a bibimbap grain bowl.
The breakfast menu, available daily at 7 a.m. in the ground floor, 175-seat-space, has an entire section devoted to dumplings. Beyond pho soup dumplings, there are candied roast pork buns, shrimp and pork shumai, and vegetable mapo dumplings. There are concessions to a traditional American breakfast, too, with eggs, pancakes, bagels, and the ever-popular avocado toast. The full menu, with La Colombe coffee, is below.
When Rice & Gold fully opens for lunch and dinner in a couple weeks, it will add dim sum, appetizers, vegetables, large-format entrees, rice, and noodles. Lamb neck barbecue bao, crispy papaya salad, arroz caldo, and pancit palabok all make appearances on the upcoming menu.
This is one of four disparate restaurants in Hotel 50 Bowery from Talde. Rooftop lounge The Crown is already open, with basement bar Green Lady and a Second Floor Breezeway on deck.
Breakfast is now served weekends from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Lunch and dinner are scheduled to start in early October, with outdoor space to open in 2018. Stay tuned.
