Club Cumming Will Open in East Village on September 15

Actor Alan Cumming’s fantasy salon and mischief-laden Club Cumming will officially make its entrance to the East Village on September 15.

The gay haven it’s taking over, Eastern Bloc at 505 East 6th Street, closed over the weekend to make way for the actor’s new club. Cumming famously dreamed of the idea in his Cabaret dressing room, where he often hosted themed parties. Like the parties, Club Cumming will be “a home for everyone of all ages, all genders, all sexualities, who all enjoy letting go and making some mischief,” the club says.

According to Tasting Table, the opening festivities will last an entire week. Co-owners Benjamin Maisani and Daniel Nardicio say that tons of sexy party nights will pack the schedule. One night will be Femme, “a gender-fluid dance party,” and singer Amber Martin’s “Bette, Bathhouse, and Beyond” — a party where guests wear only towels that has happened at Eastern Bloc — will make an appearance here, too.

Other events — like readings, book clubs, and piano music nights — may be less intense, but maybe not: At least one of the readings is the return of Eastern Bloc’s “Reading For Filth,” a night advertised with a topless woman and the tagline “low rent readings for a high-rent city.” Stay tuned for more.
