Don’t expect burgers in LA from April Bloomfield

Spotted Pig owners April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman talked to Bloomberg about their new LA restaurant Hearth & Hound, where there isn’t even a burger on the menu. Instead it’s going to be “a lot of vegetables” as well as “pigeons and ducks, and chickens, a little bit of beef,” says Bloomfield. The hearth is a centerpiece, along with a rotisserie for chickens and “maybe some lamb.” As for those burgers, “I’ve gotten burgers out of my system,” she says of the dish for which she’s become known. Other meaty bits from the piece: Friedman says that “virtually everyone involved in the Pig has invested in the Hollywood property,” which means likely Jay-Z.

Starting at noon, customers can go online and send a 25-pack of cupcakes in a gift box “absolutely free of charge to surprise a special someone they care about.” Here’s the link.
