It was quite a run for Williamsburg’s Parm: After a three-year build-out and five-months in business, it has indeed closed, confirms Jeff Zalaznick of Major Food Group. But it’s not the end for a borough location. Though it won’t be in Williamsburg, Parm is moving Downtown — location TBD — with an expected opening later this fall.
"We opened Parm in Williamsburg in September and less than five months later were forced to shut down due to plumbing issues in the building,” says Zalaznick in a statement. “After months of delays, we have decided to move on to another location in Brooklyn. We are sorry to leave Williamsburg but we are incredibly excited about our new location in Downtown Brooklyn, which will open in October."
After the initial January closing, the Williamsburg restaurant was on track reopen around late February, but the opening was pushed off, with MFG citing building delays.
Sibling Parm locations remain open in Nolita, Battery Park City, the Upper West Side, and Yankee Stadium.
This is only the second closing in the Major Food Group’s stable of restaurants, following Torrisi Italian Specialties, which closed in 2014. Initially, that location was projected to house a 15-seat fine dining spot, but it had been used as the planning space for The Grill where partner Mario Carbone is cooking, The Pool with partner Rich Torrisi as executive chef, and the yet-to-open Lobster Club as the team has prepared for arguably the most ambitious opening of any restaurant anywhere in the country this year — in the Seagram building’s storied Four Seasons.
