Does New York City’s air feel extra briny this week? Because Salt Bae is back in town, documenting his adventures over on Instagram for all to see.
Viral sensation Nusret Gökçe, the Turkish butcher and restaurateur famous for his signature salt-sprinkling technique, has been diligently working to open a Midtown West location of his international steakhouse Nusr-et.
On this trip, Gökçe appears to be on the hunt for the best meat purveyor possible to showcase his stunty videos and attention-grabbing style. In Gökçe’s current Instagram Story, he and an associate can be seen driving around the Bronx with the goal of selecting some prime steak. In Turkey and Dubai, Nusr-et is a total meatfest, with various beef and lamb cuts on the menu, plus plenty of seafood.
Here in NYC, Nusr-et will open in the former China Grill at 60 West 53rd Street, with architect Glen Coben (Carbone, Empellon Midtown) potentially designing the space. It will add to his five steakhouses — primarily in Turkey, one in Dubai— two burger restaurants, and an upcoming London location.
