The newest entrance into the fast-casual space The Sosta swings open today in Nolita, with pastas, focaccia sandwiches, and antipasto boards.

The restaurant at 186 Mott Street comes from hospitality giant ESquared, owner of restaurants like BLT Steak and BLT Prime, and its creative director Samantha Wasser, who’s best known for co-founding vegan fast-casual hit By Chloe.

Here, Wasser collaborated with newcomer chef Ali LaRaia on the menu, which is not vegan like at By Chloe. Pastas are made each morning and come in five selections, including spaghetti pomodoro and a campanelle pesto. Each one can be replaced with zucchini noodles or gluten-free pasta for an additional charge. Just as at By Chloe, The Sosta has a look very targeted at the fashion crowd. Variations of a hyper-trendy pink accent the space, which seats 40 inside and 20 on a patio.

The Sosta opens to the public on Thursday and is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Brunch will come later. If all goes well, ESquared plans to expand rapidly just as the company has with By Chloe.
