Watch: NYC’s Best Hand-Pulled Noodles Are Served With a Big Tray of Chicken

Cult Following host Serena Dai visits Chinatown restaurant Spicy Village

Some restaurants have such a following that fans will make t-shirts — on their own dime. Postcard-sized Chinatown Henan restaurant Spicy Village is one of those places.

The restaurant struggled when it first opened, but over time, its signature big tray of spicy chicken and hand-pulled noodles drew a small yet loyal fanbase, including people like Mission Chinese chef Danny Bowien.

In this episode of Cult Following, host Serena Dai — a self-described member of this cult-beloved restaurant — talks to owner Wendy Lian about how the restaurant went from under-the-radar spot to neighborhood mainstay.
