Marcus Samuelsson, the celebrity chef behind Harlem restaurant Red Rooster, will be making his next move in Greenpoint with a big waterfront restaurant.

The Post’s Steve Cuozzo reports today that Samuelsson signed a lease for a more than 4,000-square-foot space at 21 India Street, at the base of a luxury residential tower called The Greenpoint. It will be right up against the river and will have outdoor dining with a view of Manhattan.

It won’t necessarily be a Red Rooster, and Samuelsson tells the Post that he does not yet know what food will be served. No timeline yet on when it will open, but the luxury building — a combination of rentals and condos — will start putting its condos on sale this week. Eater has reached out to Samuelsson for more information.

The chef is best known for contemporary comfort food at Red Rooster in Harlem and has been on a bit of an expansion tear as of late. He recently opened a version of Red Rooster in London, and he’ll be debuting the restaurant in Newark, New Jersey later this year. He also has restaurants in his home country of Sweden, Norway, and Chicago.

His other restaurants serve a range of cuisines, including burgers, tacos, street food, and rotisserie chicken. This will be his first outpost in Brooklyn.

Stay tuned for more.
