Prospect Heights Mexican food phenom El Atoradero will be offering carnitas tacos in Gowanus this week. Chef Denisse Lina Chavez — who briefly left the restaurant but has since returned to the helm — will be manning a taqueria within performance arts venue Littlefield starting Friday, according to Gothamist.
Taqueria El Atoradero will be both in Littlefield’s bar Parklife and its accompanying outdoor space, located at 636 Degraw Street. A walk-up window set-up will primarily serve tacos and burritos with fillings like carne asada, suadero, chicken tinga, and of course, the carnitas that launched Chavez into citywide prominence. Nachos, chips and salsa, and queso will also be available.
This could be just the beginning of a citywide presence for Chavez. El Atoradero co-owner Noah Arenstein tells Gothamist that the new stand is a test for whether or not more taquerias will be populating the city soon. Eater has reached out for information; stay tuned for more.
