It has partnered with a restaurant in The Maidstone Hotel

The chef of Cafe Clover will oversee a spot in East Hampton

Downing Street’s Cafe Clover owners Kyle Hotchkiss Carone and David Rabin are diving into Hamptons real estate this season having partnered with Jenny Baker at Maidstone Hotel in East Hampton. Cafe Clover's David Standridge will be the consulting chef of the restaurant, which will now be called The Maidstone instead of The Living Room.

Standridge likens the menu to California meets the Hamptons, with vegetables and shellfish the focal points. “Even when coming up with dishes I think of as indulgent vacation foods, I'm keeping in mind that most people are putting on a bathing suit the next day and don't want to go to bed feeling like they ate too much.”

Apart from the restaurant, the rooms and public areas have been refurbished, with the Swedish influences replaced with a more West Coast vibe. The area called "The Cozy" is now "The Sun Room" with marble tables, palm trees, and a baby grand standing in for Scandinavian furniture. Look for it to open a week after Memorial Day.
