The extra-chubby Madison Square Park squirrels will be pleased to learn that Shake Shack’s original location will next week — finally — start offering breakfast. Come Monday, May 22 at 7:30 a.m., the true NYC burger king will have egg sandwiches, apple turnovers, and coffee cake for the most dedicated and early-rising of Shack lovers.
Those most loyal customers may remember that the original Shack actually briefly served breakfast in 2005, before discontinuing the morning meal. Breakfast in its modern incarnation, though, has long been available at the JFK airport location, and most recently at Penn Station, but the flagship was sorely left out of this additional daypart. Not anymore, as Madison Square Park will now be first location not in a transit station to serve breakfast, Gothamist reports.
The morning meal joins the Madison Square Park party weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and weekends starting at 8:30 a.m. As they are at JFK, sandwiches include egg and cheese with the addition of sausage or bacon. The seasonal sour cream coffee cake, coming from founder Danny Meyer’s nearby all-day cafe Daily Provisions, will be served only at this location, and Four & Twenty Blackbirds will provide apple turnovers alongside Stumptown coffee.
Breakfast at the flagship starts on Monday, May 22, and any a.m. purchase will come with free coffee through May 28.
