The flagship street cart location of New York City chicken-and-rice phenom Halal Guys caught on fire on Monday morning.
DNAinfo reports that the propane tanks at the West 53rd Street and 6th Avenue food cart “erupted into flames” just after 9 a.m. No one was injured, and the fire was extinguished with the help of some nearby construction workers who spotted the incident and the city’s fire department. No word yet on what caused the fire. It did not interrupt lunch rush — the operators hauled in a replacement cart before then.

The Midtown location of the street cart remains one of the most popular halal carts in New York City even though similar food trucks can be found on nearly every corner of town. Continuously snaking lines at that flagship location have turned Halal Guys into a global brand, which has been franchising to cities around the world recently.
Eater has reached out to Halal Guys for further information.
