Chef Alvin Cailan — best known for Eggslut, an LA restaurant with a cult following — is reviving his burger pop-up inspired by TV show Bob’s Burgers.
The chef is doing a “7 Days of Bobs Burgers” next week at Soho pop-up restaurant Chefs Club Counter, where he’s currently chef-in-residence. Each burger of the day will have silly, pun-focused names, just like the ones on the popular animated show. They will cost $20 and come with fries, a Bob’s Burgers keychain, and a sticker. All the proceeds from the themed burgers will go to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Available burgers include a “Hit Me with Your Best Shallot Burger,” which comes with caramelized shallots, chèvre spread, and arugula, and a “Bet it all on Black Garlic Burger,” a burger with mozzarella, spinach, and black garlic spread. The pop-up will run from Monday, December 18th through Sunday, December 24th. See the full menu rundown below.
Cailan helped host a wildly popular Bob’s Burgers pop-up last year in Los Angeles, where burgers were a bonus to a gallery featuring work created by artists from the show. But here in New York, the burgers will be more of a focus. A spokesperson with Chefs Club Counter notes that art will not appear at this pop-up, though “elements from the show” will be added throughout the space next week — such as a Bob’s Burger flag outside, Bob’s Burger posters, and a “Burger of the Day” chalkboard like the one in the show.
Cailan will be the featured chef at Chefs Club Counter, at 62 Spring Street, until February 27, 2018. Besides the Bob’s pop-up, he is serving a more general burger menu, salads, and breakfast items like waffles and egg-packed burritos.
