Making its illustrious return to New York City is the Kellogg’s Cafe, a living embodiment of the grocery store brand and all of its sugary wares. Downtown tourist hub Union Square is now home to the cereal-peddling cafe at 31 East 17th Street between Union Square East and West, which had previously lived in Times Square.
The menu hawks various bowls of Kellogg’s-branded cereal — Special K, Frosted Flakes, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, and Mini-Wheats — for $1.50, as well as ones with unlimited toppings for $4. Lifestyle influencer Lauren Conrad created two, which includes the “wake me up” with Frosted Flakes, gingersnaps, pumpkin spice, and graham cracker crumble. Coffee, tea, and other brand-approved snacks like Eggos and Pop-Tart ice cream sandwiches fill out the menu, which is in full below.
At 5,000-square-feet, the space is five times the size of the Times Square location, which likely speaks to the outsized popularity the first one faced. When it debuted in summer 2016, tourists stormed the place for bowls of cereal that are available at every bodega and grocery store throughout the country. Milk Bar maven Christina Tosi was a part of that one, but this go round, chef Mariana Villegas (Cosme, Verde) is the tour de force behind the sugary menu. Villegas teamed up with former Per Se general manager Anthony Rudolf and Eleven Madison Park alum Sandra Di Capua for the new store.
Here, there are plenty of photo opps with Tony the Tiger-printed chair covers and an actual “Instagram nook” with lighting and props. Kellogg’s Cafe is now open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
