Hill Country Barbecue Market, now a decade into its New York City tenure with two locations and two spinoff Hill Country Chickens, will close its Brooklyn location this Friday to “refresh” — a move that involves closing the next-door sister Hill Country Chicken location.
Founder and CEO Marc Glosserman says in a statement that both Barbecue Market and Chicken, located at 345 Adams Street, will close this Friday, December 15, with Barbecue Market reopening in the spring following a renovation. The idea is to reopen with “an updated and energized experience,” though a spokeswoman declined to say what that experience would entail, as well as why exactly Chicken would not reopen. Barbecue Market and the fast-casual Chicken have been open in those spaces for four years.
In the 10 years it’s been open, Hill Country has risen to the top of NYC’s barbecue scene, earning regular spots on Eater maps, two stars in the Times, and more.
