The owner of perpetually busy East Village restaurant MáLà Project has opened a new Chinese restaurant downtown, this time focusing on home-style Chinese cuisine. Tomorrow, located at 200 Pearl Street between John and Fulton Streets, started serving $10 meal deals and more in FiDi earlier this week.
Amelie Kang, a restaurateur who opened spicy hit MáLà Project in 2015, decided to pursue Tomorrow in hopes of “changing stereotypes of Chinese takeout restaurants,” according to a spokeswoman.
Here, she aims to offer Chinese dishes more commonly found at home dinner tables than in restaurants — such as tomato and egg, a simple and slightly sweet stir-fry dish. Other options currently on the menu, which will change seasonally, include beef stew, leftover fried rice, and mapo tofu. Diners choose three dishes for $10; each portion is about what Dig Inn does per item. At dinner, people can also choose dishes a la carte for $4 each.
The restaurant offers seating for 20 people, but with the lunch crowd in FiDi, delivery and takeout will play a large role as well. Take a look at the full menu below. Tomorrow is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
