After months of delays and a total rework of the space, former Del Posto chef Mark Ladner’s bid to make the McDonald’s of pasta will start serving food to the public in Greenwich Village next week.
Pasta Flyer, located at 510 6th Avenue between West 13th and West 14th streets, will open with a menu of fusilli, fettucine, and rigatoni, with sauce options such as basil pesto, alfredo, and marinara. All sauces and pastas can be mixed and matched, and for $9.99, diners can get a spaghetti with meatballs in marinara sauce, a side salad, and a drink. It’s called a “Nonna loves you meal.”
Sides include a salad with lentil dressing, spicy broccoli rabe, and baked eggplant parmigiano. See the full menu below.
Ladner and partner Nastassia Lopez come from fine dining backgrounds, and they’re aiming to make Pasta Flyer a fast food restaurant where food comes out in less than a minute and bowls cost as little as $6. They’re not the first team to try and make a chain dishing out nice pasta, but Ladner argues that his ties to purveyors from his time at Del Posto means it’s a particularly nutrition-packed product.
Stay tuned for photos of the space and more.
