Briefly-shuttered Chinatown favorite Lan Zhou Handmade Noodle is back in business and serving its beloved dumplings.
The restaurant’s new location at 40 Bowery, south of Canal Street, is now serving a limited menu with primarily dumplings and noodles, according to Mindy Xie, whose uncle owns the restaurant. A full menu will come soon. With about 40 seats, it’s bigger than the original.
The original outpost at 144 East Broadway, then called Lam Zhou, suddenly shuttered in August after the lease ended — riling up dumpling fanatics who thought it served one of the city’s best pork and dumpling versions. The plump concoctions typically arrived with homemade chile oil.
At this new version, the family will eventually have a more extensive menu, as well as a potential liquor license. Stay tuned for more.
