Stylish Bistro Jack’s Wife Freda Plots New Chelsea Location

Charming Soho and West Village favorite Jack’s Wife Freda is expanding to Chelsea.

The popular neighborhood restaurant from Dean and Maya Jankelowitz will be planting a third location at 116 Eighth Avenue, near West 16th Street, DNAinfo reports. It will open next year and will serve the menu of straightforward and flavorful dishes like peri-peri chicken, beet dip, and salads that Jack’s Wife Freda has become known for over the years.

Jack’s Wife Freda — known for its brunch and consistent menu with upgrades on diner fare — has been bustling without being overcrowded since it first opened in Soho in 2012. It expanded to a second location in the West Village in 2014, and earlier this year, the owners released their first cookbook, Jack's Wife Freda: Cooking From New York's West Village. In a look at the cookbook, Eater.com noted that being in the restaurant is “like a dinner party with a bunch of strangers.”
