The reigning burger prince of New York, Shake Shack is opening a new location in Morningside Heights. Columbia University’s Columbia Spectator reports that Danny Meyer’s wildly popular chain will start serving Shackburgers at the corner of 116th Street and Broadway by the end of the year.

CEO Randy Garutti tells the Spectator that the chain has been eyeing the neighborhood to serve Columbia and Barnard College students for years. Previously, the space where it will open was home to Ollie’s Noodle Shop, which closed after a fire.

It’s the 16th location of Shake Shack in New York City, including outposts in Penn Station and Citi Field. The homegrown chain has been in an expansion frenzy and now has more than 100 locations around the world.

The newest Shake Shack will be the most uptown spot to date. The Spectator notes that many students travel down to the Upper West Side location at Columbus Avenue and West 77th Street to get their Shack fix.

The new one will donate a portion of the revenue to Fresh Air Fund, a nonprofit that provides summer adventures for kids from low-income homes.
