Ramen Burger creator Keizo Shimamoto officially opened the doors of Ramen Shack today at 13-13 40 Avenue in Long Island City. The space was originally a commissary kitchen for Shimamoto and his many operations, cranking out variations of the line-inducing burger with a ramen bun. Now the space is split in two, with the restaurant’s 10 seats offering a view of the central kitchen’s daily operations.
Similarly, the menu at Ramen Shack has two sides: The first lists both speciality and classic ramen options, and the second has burgers and sides made famous at pop-ups and markets like Smorgasburg. The speciality ramen section includes one version called sabatino truffle shio, which is a chicken and dashi broth that comes with truffle oil, chicken, spinach, and bamboo shoots. Ramen Shack is now open Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
