Los Mariscos soft opened over the weekend

Ceviche, oyster shooters, and fish tacos from the team behind hit taco stand Los Tacos No. 1 are now available in Chelsea Market. Co-founder Christian Pineda soft opened the seafood spin-off Los Mariscos over the weekend, and as of Monday, it’s open to the public for lunch. Expect fish and spicy tacos, a special ceviche with fish, clams, shrimp, and octopus, and two kinds of aguachile, a ceviche with chile pepper. People will be able to stay to eat and drink options like margaritas, micheladas, and palomas.

The new restaurant is inspired by the seafood restaurants of Tijuana and Baja, decked out in blue, yellow, and white to mimic the look. As with Los Tacos, Pineda is aiming for authenticity. In Tijuana, meat and fish carts are separate. "We really want to give diners the full experience," he explains in a statement. It can be accessed through the hallways of Chelsea Market and an outside entrances as well. It’s not the only opening that Pineda will have this year. Los Tacos will be opening its first stand-alone restaurant in the former New York Times building at 229 West 43rd Street in the winter.
