Brace: Popular suburban mall chain and celebrity favorite The Cheesecake Factory’s first outpost in NYC has announced an opening date of October 25. The new location at Queens Center mall in Elmhurst will be a whopping 8,100-square-feet and seat close to 200 people, according to the chain. The company — known for cooking all the food on-site at more than 200 locations — is currently looking to hire 285 people for the outpost, including line cooks, bartenders, cashiers, and servers.
People went nuts when Cheesecake Factory announced plans for New York earlier this year. The classic pre-prom date spot has locations in nearby Jersey City and Yonkers, but it’s never opened within NYC city limits. Besides having an extensive selection of more than 50 flavored cheesecakes, the notoriously massive restaurant menu has more than 250 items — from pizza to Vietnamese spring rolls. The company’s been around as a restaurant since 1978, but recently, it’s been a place for hip celebs to hang. Kendall Jenner, Tyler, the Creator, and Justin Bieber have all been spotted at outposts this year, and Drake loves it so much that filmed a whole music video there. However, most people just know it as the quintessential suburban dining hot spot.
